Educators choose
to visit museums and other special places in their community
for many reasons: to give students opportunities that
they may not otherwise have, to enrich learning experiences
and to have fun! Most importantly, educators want to
bring to life the concepts taught in the classroom.
Because a visit to view an exhibition is a valuable
commitment of time and resources, the content of the
exhibitions and programs must supplement classroom curriculum.
The California
Exhibition Resources Alliance (CERA) provides educational
materials to accompany most every exhibition it tours.
These materials are designed to give educators information
to guide them in preparing students to view the CERA
exhibition. The grade level of the educational materials
provided depends on the exhibition's content and its
appropriateness to the students' age – some exhibitions
have education materials for elementary students, some
for high school students, and some for both.
