Coming
Attraction to CERA's Traveling Exhibition Schedule
CERA
is in the process of completing a new exhibition titled
"Bear In Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly."
In California, the image of the grizzly bear is intimately
linked with the history and development of the state
appearing in art, literature, and popular culture. The
relationship that Californians have had with the grizzly
bear over the centuries is one of dualities, expressed
in fear and fascination. Now extinct in the state, the
grizzly has been a central character in California's
history. Along with history, the exhibition also presents
scientifically accurate information about grizzly bear
biology, dispelling some of the myths about this top
predator.
Based
on a Heyday Book publication, curatorial support for the
exhibition content is provided by author Susan Snyder,
Head of Public Services at the Bancroft Library. Through
a mix of text panels and objects, this exhibition includes
special sections for children and interactive elements
to engage visitors of all ages. “Bear In Mind” will open
October 7, 2007 at the Chico Museum and is booked through
February of 2011. For more information please see our
exhibition
flyer.
